Bugai Whyoulter
Bugai Whyoulter was born at Pukayiyirna, on present day Balfour Downs Station, Western Australia, and lived nomadically with her parents before moving to Jigalong Mission with her husband. After years of weaving baskets, Bugau was taught to paint by her relatives Nora Nungabar and Nora Wompai, while livinig at Kunawarritji in the Great Sandy Desert. Her work is known for its colour, gesture and subtely and is held in collections at the Queensland Art Gallery, NGV and National Museum of Australia.
